(Other) Most Anticipated Films at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival 2016

The Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) returns for it’s 35th year this Thursday, April 7th. The MSPIFF is the largest film event in the region, and one of the largest and longest running film festivals in the country. There are over 200+ feature length and short narrative and documentary films from 60+ countries. Some of the most anticipated movies of the festival are: A Man Called Ove, The Seventh Fire, They Will Have to Kill Us, The Ardennes and The Idol. Here are some of the films I am most excited to see this year at the 2016 MSPIFF:

My King

My King explores years of one couple’s turbulent marraige. After a serious ski accident, Tony (Emmanuaelle Bercot) is sent to rehab where she reflects on her relationship with Georgio (Vincent Casssel). Vincent Cassel, you might recognize as the play direct in the Black Swan. I am most excited to his performance in this story as the relationship begins to unravel into an emotional roller coaster.

Lo and Behold: Reveries of a Connected World

If you are a fan of Werner Herzog, this is a must see. Narrated by the director, this film explores the impact of technology on our modern society. He explores the Internet, which he describes as “one of the biggest revolutions we as humans are experiencing,” but on the other side of the coin shows how this tool can be used for online harassment and Internet addiction. It wrestles with the question, “what is the future of the Internet?”
